Hodgepodge Studios in Fishtown is Hosting a “Freefolk” Docu-series Premiere Juneteenth Weekend

Juneteenth weekend is fast approaching and in observation Hodgepodge Studios (2424 Coral St.) in Fishtown will be hosting the premiere of FREEFOLK, which is a documentary series exploring issues of culture and identity among the diaspora. This screening takes place Saturday June 18th, from 11 am to 4 pm and includes Episode 1 of FREEFOLK, which features Afrosoul songstress Nya.

Guests will get to check out the   screening of FREEFOLK , a VIP reception and a roundtable discussion about the “State of the Culture”. For this discussion, organizers have assembled a group of artists, healers and intellectuals from across the globe.

Each year Philly hosts dozens of events celebrating Juneteenth which recognizes the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. Before the celebrations begin, Enyo felt it would be important to engage in critical discussions on ways to develop the diaspora.

After the premiere of Freefolk Episode 1, artists, activists, and intellectuals will gather for “State of the Culture” —a raw and uncut roundtable discussion. During the discussion participants will talk about race, sex, politics, gun
violence and other important issues.

Tickets to the event are $35 and can be purchased here.
