Garden State Rotary Will Bring Christmas Joy to Camden’s Anna Sample House
For the fourth consecutive year, the Garden State Rotary will give joy to the children and families at Volunteers of America Delaware Valley’s Anna Sample homeless family shelter. The event takes place at the Anna Sample House this Saturday, December 13th from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
In partnership with Volunteers of America Delaware Valley’s Adopt a Family initiative, the Garden State Rotary collects the Christmas wish lists of each family in the program and fulfills them by bringing clothing, toys and gifts for these families in need. The event also includes fire trucks, pony rides, and snacks and drinks for everyone.
“It’s like Santa’s elves make an appearance at the program each year,” comments Dan Lombardo, President and CEO of Volunteers of America Delaware Valley. “At a time of year that could hit these families hardest, the Garden State Rotary steps up in a very big way. The joy they bring to these kids is immeasurable.”
The Anna Sample House is a 92-bed facility for homeless families and single women. Volunteers of America Delaware Valley provides residents with temporary housing, case management, necessities such as food, clothing and transportation and 24-hour staff support. 70 percent of the residents of the facility are children.
