Fishtown Social Will Now Transform Into Kismet Bagel Sandwich Shop on Sunday Mornings

Who doesn’t like a good pop-up? Fishtown Social, one of the top destinations for natural wines in Philadelphia, has teamed up with one of Philly’s favorite bagel spots, Kismet Bagels for a new sandwich shop which will run Sundays from 9 a.m. to noon at Fishtown Social located at 1525 Frankford Avenue. The new shop will debut this Sunday, July 25th, and run indefinitely.

Jacob and Alexandra Cohen of Kismet Bagels, along with Fishtown Social owner Vanessa Wong, will offer three different options on their “Sunday Sammies” menu, including one with whitefish salad, cherry tomatoes, microgreens, extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper on a black & white sesame bagel ($13 whole; $7 half); one with cucumbers, tomatoes, capers, dill, microgreens, extra virgin olive oil, salt, pepper, and veggie (or vegan option from Philly-based brand Conscious Cultures) schmear on an everything bagel ($12 whole; $7 half); and one with spicy everything cream cheese, pickled jalapeno, and parmesan everything crisps on a jalapeno everything bagel ($6 whole; $3.50 half).

Additionally, for the Sunday regulars, the shop will be fully stocked with loose bagels ($2 each), tubs of schmear, seasonings, and various bialys ($3 each). Pastries will be available most Sundays from pastry chef Erica Pais, who is baking bourbon chocolate chip blondies for the first installment. And finally, there will be a rotating menu of sandwiches featuring local and seasonal produce by way of Riverwards Produce in Fishtown each month.

“When Jacob and Alexandra approached me with this idea, I immediately fell in love with the idea, and also with them,” said Wong. “They’re such a wonderful couple and business team, and they make an amazing product. Philly can’t get enough of their bagels, and everything they make, so this was an easy decision.

“Vanessa welcomed us in with open arms when we came to her with this plan, and we’re super excited to be operating out of her space,” said Jacob. “Her bottle shop has an incredible selection of natural wines, it’s in a perfect location, it is super customer friendly, and it just made sense for us, as we had been looking for a spot to host a Sunday sandwich shop for some time now.”
