Fabrika to Host “Cena Mortem” a Murder-Themed Burlesque Show Featuring a 3-Course Family Style Dinner

Latin for “Dinner with Death” Cena Mortem is a dinner experience unlike anything you’ve seen.  Inspired by New York’s “Queen of the Night” party, curator Val Teachout sought out a small team of creatives including photographer K.Spence, dancer/choreographer Teddy Fatscher of Matter Movement Group, Iris Spectre, Eric Jaffe and Fagl Roq – to produce a murder-themed burlesque dinner and show at Fabrika on Sunday February 20th.

Cena Mortem’s entire show features 14 performers-hosted by Jaffe-and explores the glamour and horror of a dinner riddled with murder. With performance pieces titled “Demon Sluts,” “Red Waltz” and “Orgy” (yes, you read that correctly) the event promises to push the limits of sexuality and morality.  Fabrika boasts a space of 9,800 square-feet, complete with hydraulic center stage, chain hoists for aerial acts, and support beams so everyone in the venue feels of the show.

But the performances are only half the attraction.  Each ticket includes a 3-course, family-style dinner, curated by Fabrika’s general manager Anthony Santini and head chef Jimmy Cutshall.  “Our goal is to get attendees to literally break bread with one another, to socialize outside their respective circles as they once did pre-COVID. The fixed menu starting at 7:30 pm will also be paired with specialty cocktails created by Don Julio Tequila,” the event describes.

While Cena Mortem features performers in lavish costumes, the creators of the show they also want guests to participate as well by encouraging all to dress”exquisitely” for a macabre dinner party; “the more exquisite, the better,” organizers add.  Dress code isn’t enforced, but it is highly encouraged to enhance appearance.  Tickers are available at CenaMortem.com.

After dinner, Fabrika transitions to an open after party, with sounds from DJ Electric Honey, who is also DJing and providing original music for the show. Tickets are available in three tiers: Ultra VIP – a front row seat to the show with complimentary champagne; VIP lower level tickets with access to a cocktail hour as well as an intimate performance pre-show, and GA upper-level tickets. Can’t make it to the show? After party tickets (free to show attendees) are $10 starting at 10 pm.
