Ember & Ash is Closing Out Women’s History Month With a Special Ladies’ Happy Hour
Gianna Spatoulas has spent years managing a number of high-profile restaurants in Philadelphia, making a name for herself while working with the likes of Zama and Marc Vetri, among others. Now, she’s the GM/Partner at East Passyunk’s Ember & Ash, which has seen incredible success despite opening during the final week in 2020 during the heart of the pandemic.
And while Spatoulas generally prefers to stay behind the scenes, she decided to come front and center to organize an event in celebration of Women’s History Month. On Wednesday, March 30th, Spatoulas and her team will host a ladies’ happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. at the restaurant located at 1520 East Passyunk Avenue. While this is a female-focused event, Spatoulas says the happy hour is open to anyone. Proceeds will benefit Women Against Abuse, a Philadelphia non-profit whose mission is to provide quality, compassionate, and nonjudgmental service to those affected by violence.
Chefs Scott Calhoun and David Feola will be making Smoked Halibut Ceviche, and dollar oysters will be available during the happy hour. There will also be additional menu specials featured. Additionally, there will be French 95 cocktails, ‘Big Mac’ Pickle Back Shots, and discounted house whiskey cocktails.
“I’m very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish during our first 15 months in business, and I’m also very proud to be a female business owner in Philadelphia,” said Spatoulas. “The women in this city support each other immensely, and it’s wonderful to see so many different initiatives taken by Philly’s savvy lady leaders. I decided to host this happy hour while supporting a worthy cause, and we’re all looking forward to what should be a really fun night.”
