Devil’s Den Hosts An Evening of ’80s True Crime and Cocktails With Crime Correspondent / Investigator Sarah Cailean
Devil’s Den, arguably Philadelphia’s best craft beer bar, is traveling back in time for Gnarly Carnage: Murder ‘80s Style, a bloody good evening of true crime stories and conversation hosted by homicide investigator Sarah Cailean, with ’80s-inspired cocktail flights, pub fare, trivia, prizes and an in-depth tale of infamous true crime cases and killers from the ’80s, on Thursday, September 9 from 7 – 9pm.
The 1980s aren’t just famous for synth music, big bangs, and Rubiks Cubes, It’s the decade that gave the world Molly Ringwald, Elton John, Duran Duran, and most importantly – some of the most well-known murders and crimes including Richard Ramirez who is also known as the Night Stalker, Jeffrey Dahmer, Larry Eyler, and many more.
“My time spent as a former police officer and detective only added to knowledge and interest in true crime and led to my current career as a crime correspondent for numerous media outlets, and as a Special Investigator for the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sarah Cailean, host of Gnarly Carnage: Murder ’80s Style. “Folks today have shown such a strong interest in learning of past true crime tales – whether it be through podcasts or documentaries – and it’s been a lot of fun giving people an inside look into some of the most infamous cases.”
In addition to the presentation, Devil’s Den will host trivia for attendees with prizes for the winners. Imbibers can look forward to sipping on flights of cocktails popular in the ‘80s, with three 5 oz. pours of the following:
Blue Hawaiian—Rum, Curacao Liqueur, pineapple juice, and cream of coconut, topped with pineapple slices and maraschino cherry
Alabama Slammer—Southern Comfort, Sloe Gin, Amaretto Liqueur, and orange juice, garnished with orange wedges
Tequila Sunrise—Tequila, orange juice, grenadine syrup, and orange slices for garnish
“We are coming out of the pandemic (hopefully) with an even more robust line up of fun and interesting events,” said Devil’s Den Owner Erin Wallace. “I think what people want now, more than ever, is to have a good time and a few laughs”
