Chill Moody Adds a Twist to His Charity Golf Tournament with the Debut of “The nicethings Showdown”

On Saturday, August 10, Philadelphia artist and entrepreneur Chill Moody returns to Lederach Golf Club in Harleysville, PA, to host the 3rd Annual nicethings Invitational—a charity golf outing where culture, competition, and community meet for a cause. This year, he’s raising the stakes with a brand-new addition to the format: The nicethings Showdown.

Billed as a creative response to one of the sport’s most quietly accepted flaws—questionable charity golf scorecards—the nicethings Showdown is designed to bring a new level of fairness, energy, and strategy to the course. After the full round of golf is complete, the top two teams on the leaderboard won’t just submit their scores and walk away with prizes. Instead, they’ll be sent back out for one more hole.

This final face-off will be played alternate shot, a format that strips away the comfort of mulligans and forces each player to fully rely on their teammate. No shortcuts, no inflated scores, and no room for nerves. The winner earns bragging rights and the coveted nicethingsCUP, a symbol of both skill and sportsmanship.

For Chill Moody, the tweak is more than a competitive shake-up. It’s a reflection of the event’s values.

“This twist is fun, but it also speaks to the integrity and community we’re building through this event,” says Moody.

The nicethings Invitational, while full of personality, is deeply mission-driven. Proceeds from the outing benefit Moody’s nonprofit, We Golf Now, which is focused on expanding access to golf for Black and Brown youth. The organization provides mentorship, clinics, workforce development, and storytelling opportunities, aiming to change the face of golf both on the green and behind the scenes.

The invitational welcomes a wide range of participants, from seasoned players to first-timers. Golfers can register as a foursome or individually, and general admission tickets are available for those who want to support the cause and enjoy the vibe. An afterparty, featuring music by GetUP, will close out the day.
