The Feminist Flea Market & Craft Fair is Back at Bok Bar!
Celebrate the start of spring by shopping local for a good cause! On Saturday, March 28th, House Cat’s Feminist Flea Market & Craft Fair is coming back to Bok with over 100 womxn, trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming vendors. For just $5 you can shop a curated selection of local wares and proceeds from your entry fee will be donated to WOAR – Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence, Philly’s only rape crisis center.
At their holiday market at Bok back in December, over 1,800 people came through the door and, with all of the community support, over $6,000 was raised for WOAR. Their donation helps support WOAR’s many services including the 24-hour hotline, individual and group counseling and sex trafficing advocacy and intervention.
The market has grown to host over 100 vendors, with a waiting list of over 200 more artists and creators. House Cat carefully curates the market to highlight the beautifully diverse identities and works of local artists and businesses. You can expect everything from vintage clothing to handmade jewelry, homemade beauty products, vegan treats and much more. Just some of the vendors who will be there include fat folx only vintage shop – Fat Daddy Vintage, Fishtown’s new independent bookstore celebrating women authors, artists and activists – Harriet’s Bookshop, social justice heritage brand and screen printing workshop – Philadelphia Printworks, restorative justice based intuitive healing and craniosacral therapist – Cranio Sacred, and Philly’s socially conscious and animal/human/earth-focused liberation bakery – Crust Vegan Bakery.
The Feminist Flea has expanded beyond just being a shopping event, and has become a space for community and connection. Many vendors continue to come back for each market and say that the market is not only Philly’s best in terms of how much money they make but also in how warm and supportive everyone is who attends. House Cat has started hosting meetups so everyone can get to know each other outside of the market environment; at their last Feminist Flea meetup at Tattooed Mom’s, past and future vendors as well as local artists and creators came together to learn more about each other and make new friends. House Cat hopes to continue to grow this community of feminist makers and create spaces of support, meaningful growth and connection for vendors and attendees alike.
The Feminist Flea Market & Craft Fair will be at Bok (1901 S 9th St, Philadelphia, PA 19148) from 11AM-6PM. Tickets are available online or at the door. This is a family friendly event.
