La Peg and FringeArts Are Hosting Monthly Acoustic Karaoke Nights!
Following the lively success of their first few sessions, La Peg at FringeArts and musician Matthew “Facebagel” White announce Live Acoustic Karaoke: A Monthly Residency. The next performance will be on Saturday, February 29; after that date, Live Acoustic Karaoke will be held every First Saturday beginning the following Saturday, March 7 and continuing on Saturday, April 4.
Beginning at 10:30 PM, White invites singers to choose a song, then join him on stage with his guitar. This FREE event brings together the best of open mic performances and karaoke nights: White performs three 45-minute sets of songs chosen by the audience, but the singer who chooses the song also joins him on stage to perform it. With a catalog of more than 120 songs and his acoustic guitar, the nimble musician hosts a one-of-a-kind live performance that makes the audience the star and has quickly become a must-attend event for music lovers of all stripes in historic Old City.
With shows on the schedule for March (3/7) and April (4/4), Live Acoustic Karaoke joins La Peg’s popular Summer Movie Series and monthly cabaret-spectacular Get Pegged as a fun and lively way to spend an evening on the Delaware River Waterfront. Convenient to the ongoing seasonal happenings at Race Street Pier and Cherry Street Pier, La Peg is a perfect place to grab dinner before or after a FringeArts performance, and all guests are invited to linger on First Saturdays to sing – or just watch – the Live Acoustic Karaoke show.
How Does It Work?
Guests are encouraged to arrive beginning at 9 PM on karaoke nights (including this Saturday, February 29 and recurring on First Saturdays beginning on Saturday, March 7) to choose prime seats at the bar or in the dining room, and can also order dinner from the restaurant’s full menu until 10:30 PM or from the bar menu until 11:30 PM. Once the show begins, White will call performers to the stage as they sign up and play along as they sing their favorite songs. A book of printed lyrics is provided for the singers, and a full list of available songs can be found on Spotify (click to listen) for performers who wish to browse the offerings or rehearse in advance. Detailed instructions on how to participate, including helpful “Dos and Don’ts,” can be found on La Peg’s Instagram Story (click to browse).
