New Italian Restaurant Via Locusta Is Now Open in Rittenhouse Square!
There’s a new Italian restaurant opening its doors in Rittenhouse. Michael Schulson, his wife and business partner Nina Tinari, and business partner Chef Jeff Michaud will open Via Locusta, an intimate, yet stunning Italian restaurant just off Rittenhouse Square.
Set to be one of the most approachable spots in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood, Michaud created the menu with Ed Pinello (Executive Chef), offering a smart, focused selection of shareable plates, pastas and a few larger dishes. They’ll highlight fresh handmade pasta made with locally-sourced, fresh-milled flour, and the brightest fruits and vegetables from some of Pennsylvania’s outstanding farmers. To complement the menu, guests may enjoy a from-scratch cocktail program also touting the “local, seasonal, and sustainable” tenets of the kitchen.
Collaborating again with Home Studios, their design partners on 2018’s show-stopper Giuseppe & Sons, Schulson and Tinari, along with Michaud, will add yet another exciting spot to the Philadelphia dining scene.
With Via Locusta, Schulson and Tinari are thrilled to grow their relationship with Jeff Michaud. Since February 2018 when they partnered with Michaud to purchase Osteria from URBN, where Michaud ran the kitchen since 2007, the trio hinted at future joint projects. The first of those projects is now officially open on Locust Street. In recent months, Schulson Collective’s (SC) acclaimed restaurant Giuseppe & Sons also added Michaud’s vision and now offers a variety of airy and crisp pizzas from an imported Polin deck oven. Next year, SC will open a project with Michaud on the Camden waterfront.
