Brunch with a View Like No Other at Sky Brunch
Brunch with a View Like No Other at Sky Brunch
Top of the Tower’s Sky Brunch is coming up on its one-year anniversary next month, and so Wooder Ice recently caught up with Principal Mickey Rowley and Chef Mark Brinton (Kraftwork, Sidecar) to see what’s cooking. Located on the 50th and 51st floors of Three Logan Square (1717 Arch St.), Sky Brunch is a Sunday-only brunch buffet with unrivaled panoramic views of the city.
Brinton’s previous kitchen experiences helped foster his passion for brunch, and the result is a diverse buffet menu that combines the best elements of traditional brunch with his knack for elevating classic dishes.
Two spacious dining areas serve as bookends to seven buffet food stations, each featuring a different concept. The menu is $50 per person and includes a complimentary craft cocktail (for adults; it’s $25 for kids 12 and under it’s $1 per year, and $5 for 5 year olds). Some personal favorites:
-
From The Outlook station… Honey-stung fried chicken and crème brulee brioche French toast, which offered a memorable harmony of sweet and savory with contrasting textures – the chicken was perfectly crisp.
-
From The Landscape carving station… Pepper-cured prime rib topped with merlot sauce and horseradish cream. Bonus points for being able to choose from a full range of doneness temps.
-
Also from The Landscape… Gruyere potato gratin, with just the right touch of creaminess and heartiness to keep your fork going back for another bite.
-
The Pasta of the Day during our visit was a deeply flavorful penne Bolognese.
-
From The Sunny Side station… Made-to-order omelets and scrambles. Enough said.
As you might imagine for a place with impeccable views and delectable fare, Sky Brunch is pretty much the ideal spot to impress a date (or to cap things off by eating in style the next morning). Valentine’s Day brunch filled up so fast that two separate “sunset” dinner seatings were added, both of which also promptly sold out. According to Rowley, Mother’s Day is even more popular, so be sure to book early if you want to treat mom to something special this year.
While the weekly brunch service is only offered on Sundays, Top of the Tower also happens to be a prime rental space for weddings and other events. And get this scoop: Rowley told Wooder Ice that Sky Brunch is in talks to create perhaps the city’s coolest beer garden this summer, some 683 feet in the air. Stay tuned…Check out the full menu below!
