9 Wine & Beer Summer Events You Won’t Want to Miss
Summer is prime drinking season. Well so is the fall and winter….you know what it’s always prime drinking season but to whittle down the best places to grab a cold one or enjoy fine wine, we put together a list to take the hassle out of searching. After combing through the dizzying number of beer and alcohol events we came up with this list of 9 wine & beer summer events you won’t want to miss. ¡Salud!
July 10th | The Grey Lodge
Xmas in July is an annual tradition at The Grey Lodge. It’s like Xmas, but better. No presents to buy, no Santa creeping around judging you, just great Xmas beer. As usual, we will offer free Xmas treats for dessert, with the purchase of dinner. While supplies last.
July 11th | Fairmount Park
Kick off your Saturday night with some spit-style BBQ. Meats from Kensington Quarters are smoked on hardwoods for hours to provide an authentic BBQ meal. Dine a la fresco on our back patio, drink some beers, and get some vitamin D with your protein.
July 18th | The Italian Market
Come hungry. You’ll get a real gastronomic tour of the Market, since there will be a sample waiting for you at every stop. From the amazing cheeses at one of Philly’s oldest cheese shops to a made-to-order cannoli, there is something for everyone. As we walk from shop to shop, you’ll sample cheese steaks, pizza, premium coffee, fine chocolate, and gelato. Most shop owners welcome your individual purchases and give a VIP discount to our guests.
July 18th | American Swedish Historical Museum
Spend a summer evening sampling local Philly and Swedish lagers, ales, stouts, and more paired alongside a spread of savories like Swedish meatballs, cheeses, and sausages. A taste of Sweden meets the Philadelphia beer scene looking out over FDR Park at the fifth annual SmörgåsBeer’d.
BBQ Smackdown: Wine Versus Beer!
July 22nd | Wine School of Philadelphia
It’s a beer and wine pairing competition and your palate is the judge. With four courses of hickory-smoked deliciousness you taste all the pairings and cast your vote. In this friendly competition, one of the city’s top sommeliers is pitted against a master brewer to determine –once and for all– which is better with barbecue: wine or beer?
Summer Ale Fest at the Philadelphia Zoo
July 25th | The Philadelphia Zoo
The Zoo’s annual craft beer festival set among big cats, great apes and exotic creatures returns for another year of wild fun! Enjoy admission to the Zoo, unlimited beer samples from the region’s top breweries, a live band, DJ, games and more. A variety of Philadelphia’s best food trucks will also be serving pay-as-you-go selections to pair with your favorite brews.
