Preakness at the Piazza returns after five successful years for the 143rd running of the Preakness Stakes. On Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 5 to 9:30 p.m, guests will come together at The Piazza at Schmidt’s Commons for a unique, fun, fashionable event to support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
This anticipated spring event includes a live screening of the 143rd Preakness Stakes on The Piazza’s 400 square-foot LED screen. Attendees will also enjoy a premium open bar, derby-inspired fare, and live music and DJ entertainment. Guests are encouraged to wear their best derby attire of fancy hats and extravagant bow ties for a chance to win the annual “Best Dressed” contests. For the past five years, over 4,720 attendees have joined Preakness at the Piazza and helped raise $615,300 for charity. The funds raised from this event support cutting-edge research as well as programs and services for people living with MS in the community.
“The money raised by Preakness at the Piazza offers myself as well as over 15,000 people living with Multiple Sclerosis in the Delaware Valley Area a better quality of life and a hope for a cure through the research funded. I feel so empowered being a part of this event because I get to say I am doing something to fight back so that maybe one day I’ll be able to say “I used to have MS.” – Co-Chair Sheel Bhuta

“Preakness at the Piazza is a one-of-a-kind event for the National MS Society. It creates so much buzz, not just about the party, but also about our work in providing help and hope to people living with the daily challenges of MS. It shows you just how much of an impact a dedicated group of volunteers can have on a cause they care about.” – President, Kevin Moffitt
