Yards Brews Cruise is back for more

The Spirit of Philadelphia’s Yards Brews Cruise series is back for its second leg of the season on Thursday, July 21. Once a month through October, Yards Brewing Company features a different theme highlighting one of its craft beer selections, and this month another good one is lined up.

Cross the Delaware with General Washington’s Tavern Porter

WooderIce was on board for June’s kickoff cruise (featuring Philadelphia Pale Ale) to get the scoop. Our take: it’s undoubtedly one of the better deals in the city, and an ideal date night. For $49.90, you get a 3-hour open beer bar and dinner buffet aboard the beautiful Spirit of Philadelphia and, oh yeah, a nice little cruise along the Delaware (cruise time 7-9:30) with special guest host, WMMR’s Jacky Bam Bam to get the party rocking. By the end of the night on our tour, the dance floor was packed and the vibe was pretty live.

Along with the included buffet and all-you-can-drink Yards, the folks at Old City’s Franklin Fountain were serving up ice cream all night (the lemon shandy has won me over). Jacky Bam Bam also had some T-shirts and concert tickets to giveaway to trivia winners.

The ship has three decks with ample seating and lounge areas to chat it up and peep 360-degree sightlines from the city skyline down to the stadium complex and beyond – it’s also pretty cool to get the unique riverside perspective of the Aker Philadelphia Shipyard. Last but certainly not least, the staff is very warm and accommodating.

All in all the Yards Brews Cruise is most definitely worth the price of admission. Click here for tickets and more info.
