The PHS Pop-Up Garden in Manayunk Unveils a New Fall Menu and Oktoberfest Festivities
The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) announces a calendar of Oktoberfest-themed festivities with seasonal food and libations at its PHS Pop Up Garden in Manayunk. With fall colors, cool weather, hearty eats, and warm drinks this fall is the time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Pop Up Garden in Manayunk.
From September 16 – October 3, the PHS Pop Up Garden in Manayunk will feature several new menu additions inspired by satisfying and delicious Bavarian fare with options for vegans and vegetarians. To celebrate the onset of fall weather, diners can enjoy Bavarian Pretzels served with whole grain mustard, Potato
Pancakes with chive crème fraîche and caramelized apple chutney, vegan or traditional Bratwurst Sandwich with beer braised sauerkraut, caramelized onions, and spicy mustard, Oyster Mushroom Schnitzel Sandwich with lemon caper aioli, or Käsespätzle, traditional spaetzle with Gruyère cheese and nutmeg. Guests can enjoy these seasonal specials all day alongside Manayunk’s new weekend brunch offerings.
In addition to these new menu items, Autumn-inspired cocktails and Festival style beer will be added to the menu. Hot, spiked (or not!) beverages made with apple cider or hot cocoa will chase the fall chill away as visitors enjoy the Oktoberfest activities over a five-day period.

PHS Horticulture Quizzo- Test your Bavarian Plant Knowledge!
TIME: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
COST: $10 per team (up to 5)
To kick off our Oktoberfest activities we are starting with “Plantoberfest! “Come test your knowledge of plants, including Bavarian Beauties, at Horticulture Quizzo hosted by PHS! Teams of up to 5 people can play for prizes and bragging rights. Drink specials are available for participants. $10 per team to enter and registration
required.

Join us for a full day of fun with your furry friend at “Dogtoberfest” sponsored by Dogfish Head. The fun kicks off in the afternoon with a pet adoption drive with Manayunk neighbor Animedic from 3-6 pm. Dress up your dog and compete for prizes with our pet costume contest from 4-6 pm followed by a hot dog eating contest at 7 pm. Hype
brass band, Snacktime Philly will join to fill this family friendly day with fantastic music at 6 pm. Free to attend, no registration required.

Put on those lederhosen, grab your family and friends, and join us for a full day of Bavarian-inspired fun in the garden. Free face painting, a photo booth for those Instagram moments, and a Pumpkin Penny Toss will run from 12-6pm. Starting at 1pm get those competition spirits going with our pretzel toss, stein lift, a yodeling contest, and a sausage toss. Prizes for the top winners. Dance the evening away with Oompah band Polkadelphia from 4-6pm.Sponsored by Sam Adams featuring Truly drink specials. Free to attend, no registration required.

Come by the PHS Pop Up Garden Manayunk as we close out our Oktoberfest 2021 festivities with Sausagefest! Join local chefs as they battle it out for the title of Bratwurst Master 2021 at our first official Brat Cook off! Competition sponsored by Brewery Ommegang. Guests will have the chance to taste samples from Philadelphia chefs and vote to choose who will win this year’s coveted prize. Vegan options are available! Tickets include samples from each chef and your first beer is on us! All this plus fun, free, family friendly Oktoberfest games
and prizes all day long!
