The Philadelphia Film Society Will Host a Rooftop Oscars® Party & Screening!
The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) is very excited to be hosting the 8th Annual Oscars® Party & Screening at Cira Green, Philadelphia’s Park in the Sky (129 South 30th Street) on Sunday, April 25. Traditionally held at the Philadelphia Film Center, this year’s change of venue allows for an outdoor experience, giving guests the opportunity to celebrate the Oscars with fellow cinephiles while practicing safe social distancing.
Guests will step off the elevator and onto Philadelphia’s Park in the Sky, where, 168 feet above street level, they will show off their best Hollywood look and celebrate another year in film with the Philadelphia Film Society. Guests will enjoy complimentary food & drink, a silent auction, and the 93rd Academy Awards broadcast live on the largest outdoor screen in Philadelphia – all set against the breathtaking views of Philly’s iconic skyline.
Tickets are currently available to purchase on Filmadelphia.org. Guests can choose between the VIP ticket, which is $200 ($175 for PFS Members) or the General Admission ticket, which is $60 ($50 for PFS Members). With the VIP ticket, guests will enjoy the Oscars like a celebrity A-Lister as they walk the red carpet to a specially-created outdoor VIP Green Room. Invoking the glamour and excitement of backstage at the Oscars, the outdoor VIP Green Room will afford you the perfect perch from which to view the Awards Ceremony. VIPs also enjoy an Oscar-worthy selection of gourmet food stations, all-night signature artisan cocktails, and a commemorative gift bag. With the General Admission ticket, guests will enjoy complimentary drinks, lite bites, and a silent auction. This event has limited availability with limited capacity, PFS encourages guests to purchase tickets early.
In addition to the in-person outdoor event, PFS is also offering an at-home Oscars experience. With a donation to help support PFS’s educational programming, PFS will send an Oscars Watch Box to patrons’ houses in time for the Awards ceremony on April 25. Patrons can choose from VIP Virtual Red Carpet Party and Oscars Trivia Contest with an Oscars Watch Box for a $150 donation or General Admission Virtual Red Carpet Party and Oscars Trivia Contest with an Oscars Watch Box for a $50 donation. The VIP Oscars Watch Box features gourmet food selection, a split of champagne, printed program, and Oscar favors. The General Admission Oscars Watch Box features treats dipped in ‘Oscar Gold’ to enjoy at home. Both Oscars Watch Box options will have instructions for joining the party virtually, so guests can take in all the party arrivals and enjoy special guest appearances before joining fellow virtual attendees for a fun round of Oscars Trivia leading up to the start of the ceremony. To ensure delivery of Oscars Watch Boxes prior to the Academy Awards, donations must be made by April 15.
David Fincher’s MANK led the Oscar nominations with 10 total nods. PFF29 films SOUND OF METAL, NOMADLAND, and MINARI received six nominations each. Between the Philadelphia Film Festival and year-round programming at the Roxy, Film Center, Drive-In, and Virtual Theater, as well as Member exclusive advance screenings, the Philadelphia Film Society brought 18 Academy Award-nominated films to Philadelphia, with a total of 54 nominations between them.
All proceeds from this fundraiser benefit the Film Society’s mission to create opportunities for diverse audiences to experience film through initiatives that inspire, educate, challenge, and entertain.
