The Philadelphia Film Society is Reopening The Drive-In Movie Theater at the Navy Yard!
The Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) is excited to announce that the PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard, made possible by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and Wavelength Productions, will reopen on March 5 with the highly-anticipated Disney animated feature film RAYA AND THE LAST DRAGON starring Kelly Marie Tran and Awkwafina.
PFS is thrilled to bring back this unique film watching experience for another run, featuring some of the most anticipated films of the year alongside a diverse selection of cultural touchstones, family favorites, retro classics, and new independent films. The PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard delivers a socially distanced theatrical experience, allowing PFS to welcome back Philadelphia’s extensive community of film lovers. Additionally, in the coming weeks PFS will continue their Free Community programmed screenings on select Monday evenings in partnership with other cultural organizations in the Philadelphia area.
Able to accommodate up to 180 cars per screening on the venue’s 2-screens, films will be shown via top-of-the-line digital projection on large screens fastened to stacked shipping containers, creating optimal vantage points for attendees. All screenings will take place on the scenic Delaware Riverfront at the Navy Yard, just off the intersection of League Island Boulevard and Admiral Peary Way.
Tickets for the Drive-In are $12, $8 for PFS Members, $7 for children 12 & under. Exclusive to online sales only. Operations will be check-in only, absolutely no box office sales will be conducted on site. The Drive-In will be open during the Spring season Friday – Sunday; and select Monday evenings for one FREE community programmed screening (attendees must reserve a free ticket via Filmadelphia.org). All titles and showtimes will be listed at Filmadelphia.org/NowShowing.
Tickets to opening weekend at the Drive-In will go on sale Wednesday, March 3 at 12 PM on Filmadelphia.org.
Safety is a clear priority, and each screening will comply with the most current health and safety standards per local jurisdictions and state regulations in order to protect patrons and staff. The PFS Drive-In will strictly adhere to City-approved safety guidelines for drive-ins, which, along with ticketing and pricing information, can be found on the PFS Website at Filmadelphia.org/Drive-In. Attendees are required to remain in their vehicles at all times unless using the restroom. When outside the vehicle, attendees are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
