The Oxtail Exchange Brings a Taste of the Islands to Bok Bar for One Night Only, Featuring 6+ Chefs

On Monday, August 18th, the city’s rooftop scene gets a flavorful twist as The Oxtail Exchange & Friends takes over Bok Bar for an evening filled with island heat and community flavor. Presented by Com.Unity, this ticketed celebration is part cookout, part cultural tribute, and part summer night block party in the sky.

Leading the experience is Chef Chaz Brown, known for his bold take on Afro-Caribbean cuisine and deep Trinidadian roots. While his much-anticipated restaurant, The Oxtail Exchange, is still on the way, this event offers a chance to sample the flavor and spirit behind the name.

Chef Chaz won’t be alone in the kitchen. He’s bringing along a powerhouse lineup of culinary talent, with more than six chefs contributing to the night’s menu. Guests can expect standout dishes from local favorites including Down North Pizza, Nana Araba Wilmot, and Amy’s Pastelillos, with additional chef collaborators to be announced soon. Each will bring their own creative twist to the menu, making for a diverse and dynamic culinary experience.

The atmosphere? Fish fry meets rooftop lounge. Guests can enjoy live steel drum music, a DJ spinning through golden hour, and the kind of energy that only a summer night in Philly can deliver. A curated mini-market featuring local Black-owned businesses will also be on site, offering everything from handmade goods to sweet treats.

Tickets are $75 (plus fees) and include food from all participating chefs and access to the market. Drinks will be available for purchase at the cash bar run by Bok Bar. Capacity is limited, so early ticket purchase is strongly recommended and can be purchased here.

Whether you come for the food, the music, or to support Black Business Month in a meaningful way, The Oxtail Exchange & Friends promises more than just a meal—it’s a celebration of culture, collaboration, and community.
