SShh..Check Out Philly Beer Week’s Best Kept Secret Events…
Philly Beer Week is underway and the city is buzzing with great beer related events, many of which have been getting a lot of exposure. However, there are a ton of events that could be overlooked. So if you’re looking for a beer event that will not only be fun, cool and hip but will also make for a great night out in Philly. To make things easier, we did the homework and gathered all the best kept secret events happening during Beer Week 2016. Write them down, gather your friends and have a helluva time!
Tuesday June 7th, 8pm
Safeword Kinky Quizzo with Free Will Brewing Company at Devil’s Den
Devil’s Den hosts quizzo every Tuesday night, but they are taking it up a notch for Philly Beer Week and bringing in the Free Will Brewing Company team. The kinky quizzo theme stems from Free Will debuting a new beer called Safeword, a mango habanero IPA. There will be prizes and fun along with Free Will beer specials.

Southern Brewery Tap Takeover at The Twisted Tail
The Twisted Tail, a Southern-inspired contemporary American restaurant, is sticking to their roots with a tap takeover from a variety of Southern breweries, including Shiner Bock, Bohemian Black Lager, Shiner Prickly Pear, Terrapin Maggie’s Peach Farmhouse, Mosaic, Terrapin Collaboration, Terrapin Special Release, Abita, Light, Louisiana Spiced Ale; and Cigar City.

Taste of Austin at City Tap House Logan
City Tap House Logan is hosting a celebration of the hip Texas town and some of the great craft coming from there, pairing the brand new Austin Eastciders with Deep Eddy’s flavored vodkas for some fantastic summer cocktails. The kitchen will be doing their finest Texas BBQ homage with ribs, brisket, and more. Austin Eastciders is an exciting cidery that is brand new to Philadelphia.

Jah-Coozie with Left Hand and Austin Eastciders at City Tap House Logan
Austin Eastciders goes back to back nights at City Tap House Logan – this time along with Left Hand pals celebrating reggae and outfitting everyone with custom summer cozies. Check out Philly’s newest reggae sensation Ear Me Now, a seven-piece happy funk reggae band that will put your dancing shoes on for you. Ear Me Now takes the stage at 7pm.

4th Annual Barrel-Aged Extravaganza at The Twisted Tail
The Twisted Tail’s Philly Beer Week culmination is a two-day event featuring barrel-aged beers from Allagash, Goose Island, Weyerbacher, Two Roads, 2sp, Crown Royal, and Conshohocken, among others.

The West Philly Big Fish at City Tap House University City
City Tap House University City is taking it to the sea with three of their favorite sea worthy breweries-Dogfish Head Brewery, Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits & Harpoon Brewery. The patio at City Tap University will transform into a sea faring vessel out to catch the BIG FISH. Guests who sign up for City Tap’s mailing list and get anopportunity to cast a line and maybe hook a prize. Prizes range from a handy keychain/ bottle opener all the way up to a private brewery tour. Over 25 amazing beers from these breweries, including a couple hard to come by gems.
Dogfish Brewery prizes include a VIP Tour for up to 8 people at their Milton, DE brewery, Dogfish Head Flag, hats from DFH Web Show – That’s Odd Let’s Drink it, Dogfish Head Logo hats, keychains, large metal DFH sign, small metal DFH sign, DFH dog leashes.
Harpoon Brewery prizes include keychain, hats, and a Harpoon winter Jacket.

Maryland Crab & Beer Fest at Old Eagle Tavern
Old Eagle Tavern is hosting the annual Maryland Crab and Beer Fest. Stop by and enjoy steamed Maryland blue claws with a ton of crab specials paired with the best beers from Maryland.

Barks & Brews Fundraiser for Morris Animal Refuge at Devil’s Den
Devil’s Den hosts Barks & Brews, a fundraiser for the Morris Animal Refuge with a portion of the sales proceeds going to the Morris Animal Refuge. Barks & Brews features dog-themed beers, dog-themed cocktails and dog-themed food specials. Volunteers along with dogs from the Morris Animal refuge will be on site.

3rd Annual Shakedown Street Beer Festival at City Tap House University City
The Shakedown Street Beer Festival is a love letter – an annual homage to breweries and the music that lives in their story. In true Philly Beer Week fashion, City Tap House University City will have an incredible lineup from breweries such as Sierra Nevada Terrapin Beer Co. Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Fat Head’s Brewery Nodding Head Brewery and more.
Tickets include a tasting package for the “heady” beers on draft, a keepsake glass, and entrance to the show for $45. Tickets for only the music portion are $15.
