Spataro’s Cheesesteaks is Giving Away 100 Free Half Cheesesteaks for National Cheesesteak Day!
Spataro’s Cheesesteaks in the Reading Terminal Market is partnering with Delco’s Vesper Bros. Foods on New Premium Pizza Cheesesteak, and Giving Away 100 on March 24th, National Cheesesteak Day
Recently, the historic Reading Terminal Market — open since 1893 — was named as the nation’s best public market by The Farmers Market Online. With this news, Spataro’s Cheesesteaks at The Reading Terminal Market’s owner Alex Spataro wanted to do something special to celebrate and benefit the Market, which has been raising money since the beginning of pandemic to keep the building open.
With the desire to utilize locally-produced ingredients, Spataro recently tasted Delaware County-based Vesper Bros. Foods’ pizza sauce and knew he had to build a cheesesteak around it. After a little experimentation, Spataro’s now offers a delicious new Pizza Steak on their menu, which features Reading Terminal Market’s Guinta’s Prime Angus top round, provolone, onions, and Vesper Bros. pizza sauce on a Carangi Baking Company roll.
Spataro’s will offer complimentary halves of their new pizza cheesesteaks to the first 100 people who show up asking for them beginning at noon on Wednesday, March 24th, which is also National Cheesesteak Day. Customers are still encouraged to donate what they’d like in lieu of payment, with all donations benefitting the Market directly. The sandwich will be available every day for $11.99 using ribeye meat, or $13.99 using the Angus top round, and customers can add one additional topping at no cost.
“Free, pizza, and cheesesteaks are three words that Philadelphians love, so we have a feeling people will enjoy this,” said Spataro. “When I first tried the Vesper Brothers product, I knew I had to put this on a sandwich. This is definitely one of the best sandwiches we’ve offered in 74 years of business inside the historic Reading Terminal Market, and we’re really excited for people to try it. If we can raise some money for the Market in the process, then this is a definite success. We expect the sandwich to remain on the menu for a long time.”
Spataro’s, which opened in 1947, is located within the heart of Reading Terminal Market just under the red neon Liberty Bell sign. They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
