There are tons of great movies that were shot here in The City of Brotherly Love.  Many of which created local landmarks or made current ones that much more famous.  Well one film buff, Andrea David has made a point to travel across the country in search of iconic movie locations.  However, Andrea takes things a step further by matching the locations to screen shots in the form of a photo.

Her Instagram account @filmtourismus has close to 500K followers and tons of awesome photos to give any movie lover instant nostalgia.  Andrea David recently visited Philadelphia and matched photos of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Rocky and The Sixth Sense.  Check it out!

“In West Philadelphia, born and raised, on the playground is where I spent most of my days…” 🎵 • It was always so much fun watching “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” with Will Smith’s kickass theme song! So when I thought about Phillly and TV-related places the basketball court of the intro came immediately to mind. 🏀 After some research the spot turned out to be the Roberto Clemente Playground in Spring Garden, North Philadelphia. 🎬 Who else loved watching this show? • Find more impressions of the basketball court and a huge Will Smith mural in my Insta stories… ▶️ @filmtourismus • #thefreshprinceofbelair #freshprince #princeofbelair #willsmith @willsmith @nbc #derprinzvonbelair #westphiladelphia #northphiladelphia #philadelphia #philly #visitphilly #discover_phl

“I see dead people“! • ”The Sixth Sense“ is celebrating its 20th anniversary today and I still love this movie so much. ❤️ So smartly made and full of patterns and clues that it is a real joy (goosebumps included) to watch it even when you already know how it ends. (won’t reveal it here, so if you haven’t seen that movie yet I highly recommend to do so!) In Philadelphia I took the chance to visit some of the filming locations as the St Augustine‘s Roman Catholic Church, just a ten minutes walk from the famous Independence Hall. • #thesixthsense #sixthsense #mnightshyamalan #shyamalan #brucewillis #haleyjoelosment @hjosment #philly #philadelphia @discover_phl #discover_phl @gpfophillyfilm

“Is that a face you can trust or what? They oughta stick this face on a stamp, whaddya think.” Rocky to Adrian • Totally in Rocky mode I’ve joined an amazing tour to various iconic filming locations in Philadelphia with Mike Kunda on his @theyophillyrockyfilmtour (swipe through gallery). I think there is no better guide to discover the Rocky spots as he is so passionate about what he does. He knows all the neighborhoods (and to be honest in some areas I wouldn’t dare to go alone) and he’s the perfect Rocky impersonator. Over the years a true friendship developed between him and Sylvester Stallone (@officialslystallone). It’s fantastic to listen to his stories and all the trivia he knows about the movies and the sets. ❤️ Thank you so much, Mike, for knocking me out with this tour! 😃🥊 • If you wanna see more, find some more impressions behind the film scenes in my stories. • #rocky #rockybalboa #sylvesterstallone #mikekunda #theyophillyrockyfilmtour #rockytour #philly #philadelphia #discover_phl

“I’m not saying you’re not mentally ill, for all I know you’re crazy as a loon.“ • One of the most impressive filming locations I‘ve visited in Philly is the Eastern State Penitentiary. This giant walled-in complex, opened in 1829, became the most expensive American building of its day and soon the most famous prison in the world. Some of America‘s most notorious criminals like Al Capone and Willie Sutton spent time as inmates here. Terry Gilliam, the director of ”Twelve Monkeys“, loved the stories of the old Eastern State Pen and he seized the opportunity to make it into the insane asylum where Brad Pitt‘s character would be institutionalized. During the production historians were on site at all times to let the filmmakers know if it was possible to do something or not… 🎬 • Note for film buffs: If you use the headphones you will be guided by Steve Buscemi‘s voice. 🎧 • #twelvemonkeys #12monkeys #brucewillis #bradpitt #terrygilliam #alcapone #prison #easternstatepenitentiary #philadelphia #philly #discover_phl

“Gonna fly now. Flying high now” 🎵 • Welcome to lots of new followers here thanks to the lovely shoutout of @willsmith who shared one of my pics (how crazy is that… Will Smith! This literally blew me away!! 😱) and all the people who tagged him in the comments of my little Fresh Prince tribute (what might have helped). 🙏🏻❤️ So, welcome to this special universe here, created from my love of movies and traveling. As I’m still in Philly mood I wanted to share another iconic Rocky moment from the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art with you. 🎬 By the way… if anyone wants to tag Sylvester Stallone (@officialslystallone) in the comments, please feel free. 😉 • #rocky #rockybalboa #rockysteps #sylvesterstallone #phillygram #philadelphia #philly #discover_phl
