If you’re a fan of murder mysteries, then this place is right up your alley. Red Rūm Theater is opening in Philly and will be the city’s only venue dedicated to the art of murder mystery. The 3,346-square-foot venue will open inside the Curtis at 601 Walnut Street and consist of cabaret seating for up to 100 people.
For the opening show Without a Cue Productions is bringing the 1985 American classic, Golden Girls, to the Red Rūm Theater on Tuesday, January 17th at 8:00 p.m. Opening night will also feature cocktail service provided by Philadelphia-based distillery Pops McCann Whiskey, light bites, a red carpet, photo opportunities with the Golden Girls cast, and a chance to meet one of PAWS’ adoptable dogs. Red Rūm Theater will donate a portion of the proceeds from the night of their opening show to PAWS (Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society) and $1 from every ticket the whole month of January in honor of Betty White. Representatives from PAWS will be present during opening night providing information on how you can help save an animal’s life.
The show description reads, “Your favorite ladies from the 80’s are throwing a party, and all of Philadelphia is invited. Sophia, Blanche, Rose, and Dorothy are packing their bags and saying goodbye to Miami and hello to the City of Brotherly Love. This iconic group of women have worked long and hard to throw the perfect celebration, but will they still be celebrating when they discover that one of their party guests has murderous intentions? As Sophia attempts to lighten the mood with a song, someone’s attempting to lighten the mood with a BANG!”
