Philly’s Own Slaughter Beach, Dog Will Be Performing Their Latest Project at The Fillmore This Month
This past September, Philly rock band Slaughter Beach, Dog dropped their latest project Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling and have already embarked on a self-titled tour which kicked-off in the U.K and has just come stateside.
Now the hometown group will be making a stop at The Fillmore when on Saturday November, 18th WXPN Welcomes Slaughter Beach, Dog. Formed by Modern Baseball’s Jake Ewald in 2014, Slaughter Beach, Dog has dropped four studio albums prior to their current project, as well as two EPs and two live albums.
Their latest project features their newest single “Summer Windows.” “I was working at the studio all night on something bad. Eventually I gave up and sat on the couch and this song fell in my lap. You can tell when something was written in 10 minutes – you’re in and out before you have time to intellectualize anything. No rehearsal.” He continued, “I love [bassist Ian Farmer] Ian’s walking bass line on this one. It somehow reminds me of him as a person, as a friend. This song is a favorite of mine, it feels the way I feel most of the time,” Jake states.
In addition, Crying, Laughing, Waving, Smiling also features a little ode to one of Ewald’s favorite Philly bars. On the track The Bobcat Club, Ewald sings about a couple he would always see drinking and watching TV together all night long at one of his favorite bars.
