Philly Sake Club Returns to Fishtown Urby for an Evening of Japanese Sake and Vietnamese Grilled Bites

If your idea of a perfect Tuesday evening involves cold sake, grilled street food, good music, and new friends, Philly Sake Club has you covered. On Tuesday, July 21, from 6 to 9 PM, Chef Jacob Trinh brings his beloved sake social back to Fishtown Urby (1700 N Front St) for an intimate summer evening that’s equal parts education, celebration, and delicious eating. Tickets are now available on Eventbrite.

Philly Sake Club was created by Chef Trinh with a simple but ambitious goal: use sake as a vehicle for curiosity, community, and discovery. Rather than pairing Japanese sake exclusively with Japanese cuisine, Trinh deliberately pairs it with other culinary traditions — proving that sake’s versatility goes far beyond what most people expect. This event is the second Sake Social hosted at Urby, a space that’s quickly proven to be a natural fit for the relaxed, social atmosphere Trinh has built around the club.

The evening unfolds casually and deliciously. Guests mingle to a soundtrack of good music while sake flows throughout the night and Chef Trinh fires up the grill with Vietnamese-inspired bites served buffet-style. Expect four different sake styles — the selection is always a surprise — each accompanied by tasting notes to help guests explore and develop their palate.

And yes, you get to take your sake glass home as a keepsake for the next tasting.

The Menu

Chef Trinh is bringing the same playful, flavor-forward approach that made his Nhau pop-up at Scampi such a hit. The food lineup for the evening includes:

  • Gỏi Gà — Vietnamese Chicken Salad
  • Nem Nướng Skewers — Grilled Pork Sausage
  • Bắp Nướng — Vietnamese-Style Street Corn
  • Grilled Fish Sauce Wings

Bold, vibrant, and built for sharing — exactly the kind of food that makes sake shine.

Tickets are $85 (tax and fees included) and available through Eventbrite. Space is limited, so securing your spot early is the move.
