Philly Gyms Can Now Open Monday and Patrons Must Wear Masks!
Yesterday we reported Gov. Tom Wolf’s new policies for businesses especially in the hospitality industry. Many of those policies although considered good to flatten the curve have hindered restaurants and bars further. However, a new measure was put in place for gyms. Public Health Commissioner Thomas Farley (I am sure you’re getting familiar with this name these days), stated today that Philly gyms can open Monday.
Gyms will have to adhere to social distancing rules and all patrons and workers must wear masks at all times. If you love to attend classes at your local gyms, be advised that all classes cannot exceed 10 participants. Therefore, we anticipate classes to fill out very quickly. To promote better safety, Commissioner Farley is encouraging gyms to host outdoor classes.
To ensure that gyms are following protocol, the city will be conducting random inspections at area gyms to ensure they are practicing social distancing and adhering to the guidelines. Any gym that fails an inspection or reports cases of COVID-19 will be shut down.
