Philadelphia Has Loosened Their Social Distancing Guidelines for Sports Venues and Large Events!

Last week we reported that the city will allow sports fans back at the Linc.  Now it looks like the social distancing guidelines have loosened for other public gatherings as well. The city of Philadelphia just released new guidelines for indoor and outdoor event attendance.

With these new guidelines it looks like the Eagles will be welcoming fans to Sunday’s home game against the Ravens. The city will allow large stadiums that have a 10,000 or more capacity to fill their seats to 15% with a 7,500 person cap.Eagles president Don Smolenski stated, “We have been working very closely with state and local officials, public health experts and the National Football League on a number of scenarios to safely bring Eagles fans back to Lincoln Financial Field,. After many thoughtful and active discussions, we are thrilled to announce that the fan experience will return to Lincoln Financial Field this Sunday.”

Although ticket sales will start Wednesday, at this time the Eagles are only allowing  season ticket members who opted into the 2020 season to purchase tickets to Sunday’s game.  These tickets will be sold in groups with a max of six tickets per seating pod.  Any tickets available after the initial sale will go on sale to the general public at a later date.  As for the rest of the season, single game ticket sales will be available at a later date yet to be determined.

As for general public events held both indoor and outdoor space the numbers are as follows:

  • Indoor events are allowed up to 10% maximum occupancy for venues up to 2,0000 (any venue with over 2,000 max occupancy will be caped at 250 persons)
  • Outdoor events will be capped at 20% max occupancy for venues that allow up to 2,000 people.  For outdoor venues that allow over 2,000 they will be capped at 15% occupancy.

As expected masks and social distancing will still be required.
