PennDOT Will Now Offer Non-Binary Gender Designations on State IDs and Driver’s License!
PennDOT is looking to provide all Pennsylvania residents with equal services and to do so, PennDOT will now offer non-binary gender designations on state IDs and driver’s license. There are now 17 states including Pennsylvania that now offer non-binary designations.
Moving forward PA residents will now be able to choose from “F” for female, “M” for male and “X” for non-binary.
PennDOT Secretary Yassmin Gramian stated ,”Our identity documents are critical to how we navigate the world, and having an affirming and accurate ID is critical for access to employment, healthcare, housing and so much more. Offering equitable and inclusive services for all Pennsylvanians is central to PennDOT’s mission and I’m proud that we’re taking this step.”
For anyone that already has a gender designation and would like to change it, a DL-32 form must be completed and submitted to any PennDOT Driver License Center. Heads-up, there will be a duplicate driver’s license fee.
