Old Swedes’ Church Will Screen The Nightmare Before Christmas & Haunted Mansion in Its Historic Graveyard with Free Popcorn

This October, the historic grounds of Gloria Dei (Old Swedes’) Episcopal Church will once again become the backdrop for Halloween outdoor cinema with Movies in the Graveyard — a cozy fall tradition blending family fun, local history, and a hint of Halloween magic.

Located at 916 S. Swanson Street, the centuries-old churchyard offers the perfect setting for movie nights under the autumn sky. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs or blankets, bundle up, and enjoy classic Halloween films surrounded by flickering gravestones and the glow of community spirit.

This year’s lineup features two family-friendly favorites:

  • Friday, October 10 at 6:30 p.m. — Haunted Mansion (2023, PG-13)

  • Saturday, October 25 at 6:15 p.m. — The Nightmare Before Christmas (PG)

Each ticket includes freshly popped popcorn, and all proceeds will support the ongoing preservation of Old Swedes’ historic buildings and grounds, ensuring this National Historic Landmark continues to be a community hub for generations to come.

Tickets are $10 per person or $25 per family, available online or at the door (cash and Venmo accepted). Sodas and  beers will also be available for purchase on site.

So grab your lawn chair, your favorite sweater, and a few friends — and come experience a unique movie night in Queen Village.

Tickets can be purchased at Old-swedes.org/events
