New Restaurant “Samuel’s” is Opening on Sansom Street Featuring All-Day Dining
The 1500 block of Sansom is getting a new restaurant this week. Samuel’s will open on August 10th and will be located at 1525 Sansom. Featuring a modern take on all-day-dining, Samuel’s will serve comfort food, baked goods as well as pasteries.
Owner Michael Schulson draws his inspirtation for his Samuel’s from his “Nana” and “Poppy.” The couple immigrated from Eastern Europe to the Bronx, and later owned a Kosher butcher shop. “Nana”, who was an exceptional cook and very influential towards Michael’s culinary career , would bring home spare cuts, fresh baked rye, and roasts from their shop. The traditional, comforting foods of Schulson’s childhood shape the menu at Samuel’s. including baskets of fresh housemade breads and bagels, plus an inviting pastry case, a small market shelf with fresh produce, and a large to go section.
Upon entrance, guests are greeted at a full service counter featuring house cured meats, bagels and breads , along with cakes, pastries, and other desserts like rugelach and Black & White cookies. For those dining in, the open kitchen concept will allow guests to see the chef’s making all ingredients in house. Guests on the go are encouraged to grab a signature Samuel’s bagel and self serve coffee on their way through the city and stop back in midday for satisfying plates like the fried chicken, latkes, and the quintessential egg cream.
Samuel’s will provide seating for up to 50 guests at their booths and 20 at their wrap-around counter. Hours of operation will be Wednesday through Sunday from 7am to 9pm (extended hours of operation will follow).
