New Liberty Distillery is Hosting Speakeasy Jazz Nights and Dress Up is Encouraged

Bust out the flapper dresses and cufflinks — New Liberty Distillery (1431 Cadwallader St.), the South Kensington craft distillery and home to award-winning spirit lines such as the revived heritage Kinsey brand, is hosting a series of Speakeasy Jazz Nights, held on the last Friday of the next few months: Friday, February 25th; Friday, March 25th, and Friday, April 29th. Attendees can look forward to live jazz performances, whiskey flights, tastings and prohibition-era cocktails, as well as authentic Argentinian empanadas from the 2021 Best Empanada Winning pop-up shop, El Secreto Snack Philly.

New Liberty Distillery is embracing the 1920s theme in full swing, and guests are encouraged (but not required) to do the same by dressing in their finest flapper garb! Immediately following the bar’s modified hours of 4 – 6:30pm, the expansive third floor space of the distillery will full transform into a dim, possibly even password-protected speakeasy with all the bells and whistles, with first seating for Speakeasy Jazz Night beginning at 7: 15 pm. While this event is free, reservations are required, with time slots of 7:15 pm, 8:15 pm, and 9:15 pm available (to mitigate crowding). The entry capacity for each time slot is 40 guests.

The jazz quartet, dubbed Blind Tiger, will play 20s-style jazz during set times of 7:30 pm, 8:30 pm, and 9:30 pm. Guests with tickets will enter at the unmarked side door of New Liberty Distillery located on Jefferson Street. Seating is first come first served, with the full bar remaining open until 11 pm. Reservations are available online here.

In addition to live jazz performances, themed cocktails, and fare courtesy of El Secreto, experts at the distillery will also offer private guided tastings in the second floor bar for groups of up to four people, where guests will taste through four unique spirits not usually available for sale. Tickets ($18/guest) will be limited to three groups per hour.

See below for the 20s-themed cocktail menu available only during Speakeasy Jazz Nights:

Barrel Aged Old Fashioned ($12)
Mary Pickford ($11)
Sazerac ($12)
Sidecar ($11)
Gin Rickey ($9)
Chicago Fizz ($13)
