Idris Elba Will be in Town to Shoot His New Movie Ghetto Cowboy and They Need Extras!
Famed actor Idris Elba will be in Philly August 5 through the 30th to shoot his new movie Ghetto Cowboy. The 007 actor will star in the film which will be directed by Ricky Staub. Ghetto Cowboy will be the film adaption to the award -winning novel by the same name, written by Greg Neri.
The plot is about a young kid who moves from Detroit to Philly and discovers North Philly’s Fletcher Street Urban Riding Club. Idris will play the protagonist’s estranged father. Ghetto Cowboy will also be c0-produced by Philly legend Lee Daniels who is the creator of the hit show Empire.
Director Ricky Staub who has a Brewerytown-based company “Neighborhood Film Co.” really wants an authentic feel and recently put out a call for extras. See post below:
However, another casting company by the name of Heery Loftus sent out a tweet to cast an “young African-American women between the age of 15-18.” This would be a speaking role and although acting experience is not a requirement, equestrian experience is. Check out the tweet below:
