ICE LUGE & F.O.B.E. YOUR WAY INTO 2016 WITH OYSTER HOUSE
Bid farewell to 2015 and say Hello, 2016! at Oyster House (1516 Sansom Street, (215) 567-7683) where we’ll be cracking bivalves, poppin’ bottles, and sliding vodka down a grandly illuminated lobster ice luge sculpture, because why not. On January 1, pop in for brunch and get your sandy claws on a F.O.B.E., the fried oyster, bacon and egg sandwich that is definitely the first thing you should eat in the New Year.
Toast to the New Year with half a dozen freshly shucked Cape May oysters topped with caviar mignonette, and two lobster luge-chilled shots of Tito’s Vodka ($30), in the bar or dining room. We’ll also be running our normal weekday Buck-A-Shuck Happy Hour, including $1 oysters, $3 oyster shooters, $3 draft beer and $5 punch, from 5-7pm in the bar.
For more bountiful sustenance, consider a four course menu (with three options for each course) by chef Brett Naylor for $65. Select roasted Kusshi oysters with creme fraiche, caviar and a tiny potato chip,or sunchoke and lemongrass soup with crab beignets; before split grilled lobster; shellfish risotto or lobster ravioli.
Choices of sweets include a Meyer lemon mascarpone tart, and a milk chocolate peanut butter mousse. A midnight Champagne toast finishes this special menu, and the year, with a flourish.
Reservations can be made only by calling the restaurant at (215) 567- 7683, and walk-in tables are welcome. Our kitchen will be open until midnight, and menu items from the night’s prix fixe menu will be available a la carte at the bar.
On January 1st, brunch will be in effect from 11am to 3pm, complete with a fried oyster, bacon and egg sandwich (the F.O.B.E, $12) designed expressly for your New Year’s Day needs. No reservations are required and all tables will open for walk-in guests as usual for New Year’s Day brunch and dinner service.
