Mission Taqueria and Oyster House are Teaming Up For a Special One Night Only TACOLAB

It all started five years ago when Mission Taqueria’s co-owner Daniel McLaughlin’s was listening to Nelly ft Tim McGraw’s “Over & Over” song and he wondered WHAT IF he could create a fun, unique, unexpected Collab with a total culinary opposite. He then sought out some of Philly’s top chefs to collaborate with and voilà, TACOLAB was born.

The very first TACOLAB featured Michael Ferreri who was chef at Res Ispa.  Then over the years celebrated chefs including Zahav’s Mike Solomonov, Vetri’s Marc Vetri, Saté Kampar’s Ange Branca, Her Place Supper Club’s Amanda Shulman, Royal Izakaya’s Jesse Ito, Poi Dog’s Kiki Aranita, RiverTwice’s Randy Rucker and others participated in TACOLAB.

Now the popular dinner party is back for a one-night only dinner with Mission Taqueria’s downstairs neighbor Oyster House (1516 Sansom St.), that will take place on July 17th. Chef duo Joe Campoli & James Waters of Oyster House worked with Mission Taqueria’s new Executive Chef Alejandro Martin Sanchez to create a six-course menu, with a few optional special additions.

This TACOLAB menu will run $75 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and will be the only menu served that evening.  Dishes will include: an All-black Taco de Calamar; Hot & Cold Oyster duo with Roasted Elote & Tepache Granita; Black Bass Crudo with Avocado Purée, Grilled Pineapple, and White Shoyu; and more.  A pop-up raw bar and some not-to-be-missed bonus courses will be available as well.

The synergy between Mission Taqueria and Oyster House runs deep – McLaughlin worked as GM of Sam Mink’s Oyster House before opening Mission Taqueria with Mink in August 2016. Both restaurants are now boasting relatively new chefs, so the time felt right to join forces for a night creativity and fun.

Reservations along with the full menu will drop on Tuesday, July 11th at noon via Resy. Please note, seating will be limited.
