Farina Di Vita is Partnering With Center City Pretzel to Create the “Zagel” Sandwich with Chicken Cutlets
The soft pretzel has it’s place on Philly’s Mount.Rushmore of iconic foods along with the cheesesteak and wooder ice. Now it looks like Center City Pretzel (816 Washington Ave.) is partnering with Farina Di Vita (250 Catharine St.) to create a special “Zagel,” a special pretzel bagel. Starting Tuesday, May 21st Farina Di Vita owners Jason Okdeh And Brandyn Ortiz linked up with Erika Tonelli Bonnett of Center City Pretzel for this special creation. This special collab will actually have three phases.
The first leg will start with a collaborative creation between the two businesses. They plan on taking the newly titled “Zagel” a pretzel bagel created by Erika and the Center City Pretzel team and meshing it with Farina’s popular chicken cutlet. Farina Di Vita and crew plan on running back a previous special crowned “The Big Dom” in honor of Dom DiSandro who is the senior advisor to the general manager and chief security officer for the Philadelphia Eagles. This will happen at their Queen Village Location (250 Catharine St.)
The Big Dom will be the first creation by Farina Di Vita to utilize the “Zagel” and will be a chicken cutlet smothered with blue cheese (or ranch) and a Housemade Honey Hot Sauce, with Lettuce, Tomatoes and Onions. That special will run from Tuesday, May 21st all the way until Sunday, June 2nd.
For the 2nd leg of the partnership, once The Big Dom Zagel special finishes, Farina Di Vita will offer the “Zagel” as an option for ALL menu items in shop. There will be limited amounts available everyday, but no restrictions on what menu item will between the walls of the “Zagel”
As for the 3rd leg of the partnership Farina Di Vita and Center City Pretzel will collaborate for a one day pop up style event at the Center City Pretzel location. On Saturday, June 1st from 6am until sell out you can catch owners Jason and Brandyn slinging a special breakfast sandwich on the Zagel. Since taking over the reigns of Center City Pretzel from her father Tony, Erika has been through many trials and tribulations including an electrical fire causing an 18 month hiatus.
After overcoming all the hurdles in the last 18 months, Erika, her family and her staff were able to get Center City Pretzel back up and running and back on the map. Now her version for the business moving forward is to not only supply her pretzels to the city but start really building relationships with other businesses throughout the city for collaborations, pop ups and partnerships to bring a bigger sense of community to the company.
