If you’re a into games then chances are you’ve stopped by Queen & Rook on South Street. However, this popular gaming cafe recently moved to a larger space and its new location will make it the biggest game cafe on the east coast.

Slated to open on Saturday May 18th, the new Queen & Rook will be located at 123 South Street and will feature and expansive layout with three floors.

Guests will get to enjoy features such as two dedicated bars and two outdoor seating areas, full restaurant service, a massive board game library of over 2,000 titles, and a retro video game arcade.

Known for its renowned vegetarian/vegan fare and pop culture-themed cocktails, Queen & Rook plans to introduce wood-fired pizza this spring as well as housemade soft serve ice cream and an expanded dessert menu. They will continue to serve expertly roasted espresso and Vietnamese coffee from locals Ox Coffee and Caphe Roasters.

From the Green Dragon Bar downstairs to the finer Silver Dragon Bar upstairs, Queen & Rook’s new location features a number of seating options: whether you are coming for an intimate first date or a lively 21st birthday for 50 people. The new location at 123 South Street also has a second floor private event space for up to 80 seated guests and outdoor seating for approximately 30, with accordion doors to enhance the indoor-outdoor experience. For families and local organizations seeking an event space that offers something different from the usual, Queen & Rook offers one of the most standout experiences in Philadelphia.

The retro video game arcade is a trip through time with more than 30 arcade machines and hundreds of titles to play, from Ms. Pacman and Street Fighter, to Dance Dance Revolution and Stranger Things pinball. The arcade bar will also have canned cocktails and craft beer with Yards’ 8-Bit video game beers. This retro pairing is unlike anything you have ever experienced; beyond memories and wildest imaginations!

The retail location of Queen & Rook, known as The Keep, will be moving right next door to 125 South Street, slated to open in June. In addition to offering thousands of rare, independent, and unique board and card games for sale, the space offers additional room for quiet events and gatherings in a club-like setting that resembles a library, decorated with a steampunk theme.

Over the past five years, Queen & Rook has become a community hub for gamers, families, and families of gamers. Their robust event schedule draws weekly crowds of players for Texas Hold ‘Em, Pokemon, and Dungeons & Dragons. Queen & Rook’s youth programming, including after-school and summer camps, will continue. In fact, they plan to expand their offerings to include more options for teenagers. Founder and co-owner Edward Garcia says, “It is exciting to have more space for people to get together and spend time with each other in person. We can’t wait to see how communities grow in the new larger space.”
