Buy Your Tickets Wisely, Joel Embiid States “I Would Probably Never Play Back-to-Backs the Rest of My Career

Looks like Sixers fans will have to choose their games wisely if they plan on watching The Process. In a recent interview with ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, Joel Stated, “If I had to guess, I would probably never play back-to-backs the rest of my career.”

This game plan was also confirmed by the Sixers president of operations, Daryl Morey. “We’re going to be smart about it,” Morey said, per Bontemps. “Part of being smart about it is having both Paul and Joel probably not play many back-to-backs, if any,” Morey stated.

This new “load management” strategy comes about as the the injury prone Embiid struggles to find ways to stay healthy in the post season. “Fresh off winning his first NBA MVP Award in 2022-23, Embiid struggled through an injury-plagued campaign in 2023-24, missing 43 regular-season games due primarily to knee injury,” Bleacher Report stated.

As you may be aware, the NBA changed their MVP elgibility requirements. To be eligible for the NBA’s MVP award and other major end-of-season awards, a player must appear in at least 65 games during the regular season. This is a new rule that applies to the 2024 season and beyond.

With that being said, it looks like it would be highly unlikely that Embiid will hoist another Michael Jordan trophy again.
