Attention Bagel Lovers 2 New Bagel Shops Will Open in Center City
This news probably will excite those working and living in Center City. However, if you really love bagels then you may want to continue reading. Two new bagel shops will be opening downtown and vie for their piece of the bagel market share.
The first shop Knead Bagels will be located at 725 Walnut St. in the Washington Square area. It will occupy the same spot that former food companies Philly’s Cafe and Tuscany Cafe once were. Described as “..a modern interpretation of the traditional bagel shop,” by its chef Adam Willner. Chef Willner will be preparing his bagels the old fashioned way by boiling them but promises to play with flavor combinations. In addition he plans on serving signature spreads which will include spices such as Japanese chilli and Moroccan spiced apricot.
The second shop Chestnut Street Philly Bagels will be located at 1701 Chestnut St. For you foodies out there it will occupy the same spot as former Tokyo Lunch Box. It will be a sort of extension of the current South St. Bagels. Owner Aaron Wagner has stated that he plans on creating the dough in the South St. shop and taking it to his new Chestnut St. location where it will be baked fresh and served.
No word yet on the actually opening dates on these spots but we will keep you updated.
