Your 2024 Guide to Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremonies in Philly

Time to update your calendars because the holiday season is here. What better way to kick-off the Christmas season than with a good ol’ fashion tree lighting ceremony. Luckily for us there are ceremonies happening in numerous areas around town with plenty of fun and entertainment. Here’s our 2024 guide to Christmas Tree Ceremonies in Philly.

Manayunk Tree Lighting

Thursday November 14th | 5:50 pm- 7 pm

Manayunk lights up for the holidays on November 14th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. with the annual tree lighting ceremony at Canal View Park (4418 Main Street). The night will host special guests and live performances by The City Belles, John Gilbride, Emily Drinker, Santa Claus. There will be tons of family fun with letters to Santa, ornament decorating, glow giveaways, and more. There’s a good chance Santa will be bringing some magical North Pole snow too, so get ready for a Manayunk winter wonderland. November 14th also marks the official launch of the 5th Annual Manayunk Gets Lit Decorating Competition between 50+ businesses in the district and over.

Mayfair Tree Lighting + Christmas Village + Thanksgiving Parade

November 21st & 24th

The 15th Annual Mayfair Tree Lighting & Christmas Village will take place on November 21st from 6 pm – 9 pm.  Then swing by the neighborhood again on November 24th for the Mayfair-Holmesburg Thanksgiving Day Parade. The parade take place along Frankford Avenue and will start at Rhawn Street and end at Knorr Street.

 

Northern Liberties Tree Lighting

Tuesday December 3rd | 5:30 pm

Enjoy music, a visit from Santa, vendors, light refreshments and many other surprises all ending with a tree lighting ceremony

 

Betsy Ross House/Old City Tree Lighting

Wednesday December 4th | 6 pm-6:30 pm

Presented in partnership with Old City District, the eighth-annual Holiday Tree Lighting features musical and dance performances, special guest speakers, and the countdown to the lighting of the stunning Holiday Tree, decorated by Petit Jardin en Ville.

Keep your eye out for the man of the season, himself, Santa Claus

East Passyunk Tree Lighting

Wednesday December 4th | 5 pm-7 pm

Our annual tree lighting ceremony is here! Join us from 5 – 7pm at The Singing Fountain on December 4th for the official kick-off to the holiday season with our Christmas tree lighting. Come on out and make sure to bring a to take FREE photos with Santa from 6 – 7pm and enjoy live music and other entertainment! More details to come.

 

City Hall Tree Lighting

Thursday December 5th | 6 pm- 8 pm

Join for the traditional Tree Lighting Celebrations on the North Broad side of City Hall featuring live performances and the illumination of the Visit Philly Holiday Tree. Stop by and enjoy a sparkling afternoon with us.

Gather your family and friends and help us celebrate our spectacular holiday tree lighting, which will dazzle with bright lights and illuminate the night. Kick off the official launch of the holidays and countdown to New Year’s Eve on the Philadelphia Waterfront, complete with festive performances, including performances from America’s Got Talent alum Christina Wells and social media sensation Tyler Kingsley. The evening will cap with a fireworks finale (rain or shine).

South Street Headhouse District Tree Lighting

Saturday December 7th | 12 pm – 5 pm

Enjoy a tree lighting as well as a Christmas market featuring local vendors as well as the Sisterly Love Collective
