Devil’s Den is Hosting a Virtual True Crime Festival “Death Becomes Us: Holidazed Edition”
Devil’s Den, one of Philadelphia’s best beer bars, has partnered with Death Becomes Us, the world’s only true crime festival, to bring a night of merriment and mayhem this season with its second year in a row of the haunting holiday charity event Devil’s Den Presents Death Becomes Us: Holidazed Edition — A Virtual Holiday-Themed True Crime Variety show, on Wednesday, December 16 at 8pm.
Devil’s Den Presents Death Becomes Us: Holidazed Edition gained quite the cult following last holiday season that the folks at Devil’s Den and Jenn Tisdale, creator and director of Death Becomes Us, decided to team up once more for round two. Following COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions, this year’s fundraiser will be virtual.
The virtual variety show has a focus on true crime with a merry twist. Some spooky visitors will be from Ghosts of Death Becomes Us Past (Henry Zebrowski, host on Last Podcast on the Left) as well as Ghosts of Death Becomes Us Future (Amanda Knox and Christopher Robinson, hosts of Labyrinths podcast). Sara Cailean, executive producer and host of CNN/HLN’s Hell in the Heartland true crime documentary series, will be joining the event for respectfully told true crime stories. To throw some holiday cheer into the mix, Brooklyn-based comedian Tommy McNamara will be performing songs from his recent Christmas EP, I Think I’m Starting To Like Christmas. Lastly, Meredith Maciolek, an on-premise manager and spirits educator for William Grant & Sons liquors, will be demonstrating two specialty cocktails to the audience. Attendees are encouraged to grab some brews and join in on the fun.
Devil’s Den Presents Death Becomes Us: Holidazed Edition isn’t just a night of serial killers and holiday cheer, it’s also a three-fold charity event this year. Money raised from the virtual variety show will benefit employees of Devil’s Den as they are temporarily closed for the winter months. The bash also benefits Death Becomes Us’ nonprofit partner Eastern PA Trans Equity Project (EPTEP), a transgender-led, 100% volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to serving the transgender and gender-diverse population of eastern Pennsylvania. Finally, there will be a Philadelphia Bartenders Relief Fund through Venmo set up and available for anyone who would like to donate to those out of work.
