Heffe Makes Tacos That Don’t Suck, No Really They’re Delicious
So this past Saturday on a chilly October morning , Peter McAndrews of the famous Paesano’s sandwich shops and his partner Anthony Lolio opened up the newest tastiest spot in town. Heffe Tacos which sits on the corner of Frankford & Marlboro in the heart of Fishtown, has been anticipated by foodies and we can say it did not disappoint.
Heffe which is literally a taco stand, is a small joint but packs a big punch. Incorporating his big flavors and unique meats hes’s known for, Chef McAndrews has created a menu full of unique tacos and burritos that will awaken your palettes. Some of our personal favorites include the Mac Daddy tacos (beef cheek, plumb mostarda, red chimichurr, queso fresco), The PoleYO! (fried chicken thighs, cabbage ancho mayo, chinchilla cheese) & The Fat Man Burrito (crispy chicken, bacon queso, american rice). Overall there are over a dozen tacos and burritos to choose from and we’re sure you’ll want to try them all.
Although the seating is entirely outdoors, Pete and Anthony did tell us they plan on erecting a tent to cover the seating area which will also be equipped with heat lamps during the winter. To add to the “gotta’ check it out factor,” Heffe Tacos is also working the their neighbors Bottle Bar East to create an on-location beer option for Sundays. As for now Heffe is not opposed to customers creating their own BYOB experience.
We expect this spot to grow in popularity with McAndrew’s cult-like following and the fact that this place is will be serving up tacos until 3 am on weekends (the drunk folks staggering out of Frankford Hall will be swarming this joint).
Philly may have an abundance of taco spots to check out but we guarantee you never had tacos and burritos like this before. So when we say this place doesn’t suck, trust us it f%ckin’ rocks!
