Gov. Wolf Says He is All For Medical Marijuana Use
In a recent statement to the public in regards to medical marijuana use, Gov. Wolf stated. “We should not deny a physician’s ability to recommend medical marijuana treatment for Pennsylvanians suffering from seizures, those affected by PTSD, cancer patients affected by chemotherapy, and Pennsylvanians suffering from many other ailments and conditions that could benefit from this effective doctor-prescribed treatment.”
This could essentially become the beginning of a big step forward in the fight to create medical marijuana facilities. Philadelphia has already decriminalized small amounts marijuana but Gov. Wolf’s statement would make Pennsylvania a more progressive state in the medical marijuana front.
Stating that he is all for bi-partisan efforts, Gov. Wolf essentially doesn’t want the state to get between doctors and patients suffering from a wide array of diseases and syndromes. Currently there is a bill in the works to allow patients who have a recommendation from their physician to purchase and use medical cannabis from centers licensed by a State Board of Medical Cannabis Licensing that is to be created. If Harrisburg passes this bill, Gov. Wolf has given the assurance that it will be signed.
Many economists and supporters of this bill believe this could lead to dispensaries popping-up all over the state which could eventually lead to a creation of more tax dollars. The medical marijuana business has boomed in states such as California, Colorado, and Washington. That same structure could be applied to PA. We will keep you updated as this story progresses.
