Ensemble Arts Philly is Bringing a Live Dungeons & Dragons Adventure to Philly This October
Ensemble Arts Philly is inviting adventurers of all ages to roll the dice on an unforgettable quest as DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: The Twenty-Sided Tavern comes to the Miller Theater for five performances only, October 10–12, 2025.
This interactive stage production celebrates the 50th anniversary of the world’s most famous roleplaying game, transforming the theater into a living, breathing adventure where the audience controls the story. Fans can take advantage of a special promotion: gather four adventurers and get tickets for $30 each with code HEROES. Tickets can be purchased at ensembleartsphilly.org.
In The Twenty-Sided Tavern, the fate of the heroes lies not in scripted lines but in the hands of the audience. Using their smartphones, attendees will solve puzzles, uncover secrets, and steer the characters through the mythic Forgotten Realms. With multiple possible story paths and real-time decision-making, no two shows are ever the same.
Audience participation is central—by calling out suggestions and making in-the-moment decisions, each performance becomes a collaborative, community-driven experience. The show is designed for adventurers ages 8 to 80, making it a perfect outing for families, longtime D&D fans, or newcomers curious about the world of tabletop storytelling.
“For years, Dungeons & Dragons has immersed players in stories of their own making, giving each person imaginative freedom and the opportunity to pursue adventure in a unique community,” said Frances Egler, Vice President of Theatrical Programming and Presentations at Ensemble Arts Philly. “This live, interactive experience celebrates that spirit, turning the tables on our traditional audience dynamic; now the audience is in on the story, and their choices drive the onstage action.”
