The BYOB “A Taste of History” Food Tour Will Take Riders to Sample Food in Old City, Italian Market, & Chinatown
Last summer, Founding Footsteps (Philly’s only BYOB Trolley Tour), launched their A Taste of History food tour. Now, foodies and history buffs will have a chance to experience it for a second time as A Taste of History is set to re-launch on Saturday, July 12th.
Philly is home to several food tours but none have combined the history of the city’s various neighborhoods and different food scenes while covering so much ground. Oh, and did we mention being driven around in Founding Footsteps signature BYOB trolley? “While food tours are highly represented in Philly,” said owner Tim McAleer, “we’re the only one that goes into different neighborhoods. We’re able to mobilize our guests so they can get a taste of various cuisines at some of Philly’s top food destinations across town.”
A Taste of History will run every Saturday from 1-4 pm starting July 12th until the end of October. Guests will be transported through some of the most popular eateries across Old City, the Italian Market and Chinatown where they’ll be provided samples from their most popular dishes.
This tour is much more than food sampling. Guests should expect to walk away with a better understanding of the history behind some of Philly’s most iconic dishes as well as the backstories of how they came to be. “Food is a dynamic representation of the many different immigrant communities that sought refuge in a city that embraced diversity and it is through this food that we will learn their stories,” McAleer added.
A Taste of History tickets are $99 per person and can be purchased at foundingfootsteps.com.
Stops along the tour include:
Campo’s Philly Cheesesteaks (214 Market St.)
Shane Confectionary (110 Market St.)

Termini Brothers (1523 S. 8th St.)
