One of Philly’s coolest traditional parties is back and this year organizers have given Bastille Day a cool twist! Get ready for the Bastille Day block party going down on Fairmount Ave. between 22nd St. and Corinthian Avenue.
For those unaware, Bastille Day is is formally called la Fête nationale and is the anniversary of Storming of Bastille in 1789 sparking the French Revolution. Now we get to celebrate a little French history right here in the USA.
The festivities go down July 13th, from 1PM-10PM and the best part, it’s free for all to attend. With plenty to offer, this year promises to be one of the biggest and best to date with some cool new additions to the celebrations that are highlighted below. There Will be Several Amazing Live Bands!
Bastille Day isn’t about live plays anymore. Nope. They’ve traded in wigs and costumes for guitars and drums. That’s right, the new look Bastille Day will be a block festival atmosphere with live bands that include Black Landlord, Starterjacket, & many more! That’s right, a crazy music line-up and guess what? It’s all FREE to enjoy! So bring a date, your friends, family, your emotional support pet or whoever ever and enjoy this rocking good time!
The Number One French Beer in The World Will be Flowing
Forgot all your other craft beers and get a chance to really enjoy some ice cold Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc. We’re talking quality beer with a kick ass taste. So don’t let the fancy name fool you. This tasty wheat beer hits you with a sweet and refreshing flavour, resulting from the hint of citrus and coriander spice. Doesn’t that sound delicious? What better way to try the world’s best French beer than on Bastille Day?
Tastykakes Will be Flying!
One of, if not the biggest draw to Bastille Day is the tossing of the Tastykakes. Now, this year they won’t be flying from the rooftops of Eastern State Penitentiary. However, they will be flying. Look for an abundance of Tastykakes going airborne from the stage area, as bands and festival organizers look to make it rain sweet treats on the crowd. It’s one of Philly’s coolest traditions and it isn’t going anywhere!
The Area’s Best Bars Will be Offering Some Sweet Food & Drink Deals!
The Bastille Day block party will be joined by some the area’s best bars including Urban Saloon, Fare, Bishop’s Collar, and The Black Taxi! Each bar will be celebrating on the streets but if you’re looking to cool down for a bit, there will be plenty of food and drink specials to go around.
You Can Bring Out The Little Ones
Bastille Day is a family friendly block party. Yea there beers will be flowing for the adults but there are tons of activities and games to keep the kids happy as well. There will be face painting, games, music and more. So the adults are happy, the kids are happy and the adults ready to let their inner child out will also be happy.
