Thursday, June 7, 2018

$15.00 per person
Celebrate Philly Beer Week in the great outdoors with local brews served at the Bartram’s Garden Community Boathouse on the Schuylkill River. Tickets include the cost of the first beer and a boat or kayak excursion out onto the Schuylkill River from our Community Boathouse. All instruction and equipment provided. Kids boat free with a parent or guardian! LJ Brubaker, resident expert Sea Shantiest, will lead guests in sing-a-long. Lyrics provided, no judgment offered.
“Many people know that Bartram’s Garden is a historic landscape, but there’s also a great legacy of socializing along our riverfront. John Bartram carved his famous stone cider press right along the water to brew applejack, which was said to be Ben Franklin’s favorite spirit, and his granddaughter Ann Bartram Carr organized boat rides to the Garden for picnics. So today, you can join our savvy river guides to explore the Schuylkill yourself from our boathouse. Beer & Boats at Bartram’s Garden is the 21st-century version!” –Maitreyi Roy, Executive Director
All guests will need to sign a waiver before boating and provide photo ID before being served alcohol. Tickets do not guarantee a river outing. Kayak and rowboat use will be first-come, first-served, and limited to 30 minutes during the event.

It’s Always Sunnyside Up in Philadelphia (Featured)
Saturday, june 2, 2018
11:00am
We bring back one of the darlings of our 2017 calendar for a repeat performance – a Pizza Boy tap takeover, featuring a dozen of their expertly crafted IPA’s, clean lagers, and fruited sours, and highlighted by six special firkins of their acclaimed Sunnyside Up double coffee stout, cask conditioned on a variety of clever and adventurous ingredients. This selection of special casks was created just for this event, and will be gravity poured off of the bar: Double Brownie, Coconut Macadamia Nut, Snickers, Maple Bourbon, Mezcal with Chipotle y Ancho, and Chocolate Pretzel.
The special SSU variants are all available as full 8oz pours, 4oz samplers, or flight of all six. In addition to regular menu, brunch specials will be offered, including Biscuits n’ Gravy, Bourbon-Peach French Toast, and Scrapple Cheesesteaks. Pizza Boy brewmaster Terry Hawbaker and owner Albert Kominski will be present to host. This one is a blast.
Beer From Away, the Mainerd Event (Featured)
Sunday, June 3, 2018
Noon
Our sixth annual Maine brewery spotlight, this year scheduled on one of our prime days and times, and in addition to the standard trio of our house favorites – Maine Beer Co, Oxbow, Allagash – this year we welcome Liquid Riot into the fold, a new brewery to be available in our market. Each brewery will be pouring four specialty and newly released beers, with flights available by brewery. Maine inspired food specials include Damariscotta Oysters, Lobster Roll, Fried Clams, and Blueberry Whoopie Pie.
Alex’s note: this is a personal favorite event of mine, and while the details may not jump off the page the way some of the others will, this is an excellent event, with some of the most consistently excellent beer (and food!) that we will be serving in the entirety of our events. In addition, hosts will include owners and brewers of Liquid Riot, Allagash, and Oxbow – including some of the kindest, talented, and most magnetic people that I am privileged to know. I cannot commit to personally being at more than a few of the events on the list, but this is one I eagerly anticipate every year!
