Wokworks is Opening a New Location In Fishtown With Late Night Hours Fridays & Saturdays
Nine years ago Wokworks opened its first shop in Rittenhouse and has since expanded to several brick and mortars as well as food trucks. Now the popular farm to fork Halal stir fry company is expanding to Fishtown at the corner of Marlborough and Frankford, the site of the former Peace A Pie (1429 Marlborough St.)
The new location will be operated by Wokworks CEO Brennan Foxman and Partner Samantha Foxman. The projected opening date is early January and it will offer pickup as well as delivery options. “Sam and I have lived in this neighborhood for almost seven years, and we love every part of it. It’s a vibrant oasis of Philly’s best bars, restaurants, nightlife, and makers. It’s a neighborhood teeming with life and talent. We have been eyeing this spot for years and are excited to bring our take on healthy, spicy stir fry to the community. Wok cooking has always been incredible street food, and our takeout shop will hopefully bring that same street-market energy and vibrancy to an already bursting neighborhood,” Brennan states.
“Wokworks is made fresh from scratch, then seared in a wok over very high heat. We pack each bowl with intense flavor, nutrients, varied textures, and a hint of smokiness. We are working on some great new items for Fishtown, including a dinner bento box, tiger umami fried rice, Chinese churro chips, and late-night hours! Our healthy Asian fusion menu has something for everyone, with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options and our classic noodle and rice bowls. We are 100% halal and make everything in-house using the freshest ingredients and no unnecessary additives,” Brennan adds.
The new location will also have a very cool feature, the Wokbok. “We are also excited to share a project we’ve been working on for the past year, Range Robotics. Range is a robotics company focused on creating cutting-edge robots for existing independent chefs and restaurants. Our first product, a Wokbok (yet unnamed), will be tested and implemented in our Fishtown store. This smart robot can use advanced sensors and machine learning to help our wok stars achieve that perfect wok hei – the magic nirvana of complex flavor and aroma you get only when food, oil, and flames meet in a wok. We plan to expand this line to other groups and restaurants in the industry in the coming year and develop the incredible pipeline of products we’ve been working on. In partnership with Range, our Fishtown store will be the anchor of our Philadelphia restaurants and operate at the nexus of ancient and cutting-edge cooking techniques, which is exactly where our brand sits.” – Brennan explains.
The new Fishtown Wokworks location will be open 11 am – 9 pm Sunday – Thursday and 11 am -1 am Friday – Saturday.
