WokWorks Employee Opens His Own Franchise In South Philly
Wok Works has been steadily booming over the past year. Just this past September the Farm to Fork Halal stir fry company opened a new space inside or ShopRite in Cheltenham. Now WokWorks is expanding its food empire to South Philly.
On Tuesday, employee turned owner, Muhammad Numan opened the doors to his WokWorks at 200 W. Oregon Avenue. “This partnership is our second franchise with a Wokworks employee. Numan started as an employee in our Brewerytown location before becoming our food production manager. Though he has been at the core of our business and our team for several years, this is his first venture as a Wokworks franchise owner,” states Wokworks Partner Samantha Foxman.
Beginning as a brick-and-mortar store in Rittenhouse Square in 2013, Wokworks pivoted to a fully mobile model in 2016. Current locations include a store in Northeast Philadelphia, a pickup window in Brewerytown, a stall inside ShopRite Cheltenham, and a fleet of franchise food carts and trucks serving hospitals, universities, and private events. This store will mark our 10th active location in the greater Philadelphia area.
So what can guests expect? Well for those not familiar, “Wokworks offers a healthier alternative to standard “Takeout Chinese Food” using the freshest ingredients and our housemade sauces. The ancient wok cooking method fash sears ingredients and produces a unique smokey flavor while locking in nutrients and removing the need for excess oils or additives. Everything on the menu is fresh, made with clean ingredients, and 100% Halal,” Foxman adds
The new South Philly location will serve their standard full menu, including WokWorks’ best selling dishes such Chili Garlic Chicken, Drunken Noodles, Honey Garlic Shrimp, and Bam Bam Chicken. Side dishes include crispy Brussels sprouts and vegetable dumplings, as well as new vegan and gluten-free options.
WokWorks’ hours of operation are everyday, 11 am – 9 pm, for pickup and delivery.
