Wicked Wolf is Hosting a Post SIPS Event to Giveaway Ticket to the Upcoming Philadelphia Polo Classic

Prime sports season is back in Philly and as we cheer on our beloved sports teams, here’s a chance to experience a sport that doesn’t happen too often in Philly. Not only will this be a chance to dress up and attend polo matches but it’s also for a great cause with proceeds going towards the Work to Ride Program which is a program designed to explore new ways of engaging youth in significant educational, social and cultural experiences that are otherwise unavailable such as horse riding lessons and polo.

On Saturday September 21st The Philadelphia Polo Classic  benefitting local non-profit, Work to Ride will take place at Fairmount Park. With an expected attendance of more than 3,000 guests, this year’s event promises to be the best yet with enhanced guest offerings and ticketing options — featuring expanded party tents, premium elevated seating, robust food and beverage offerings including food trucks, and a la carte boxed meal ordering from Feast Your Eyes Catering, and more.

However, you have a chance to be apart of this annual event by participating in a ticket giveaway being held at Wicked Wolf on Wednesday August 14th from 7-9 pm. This post SIPs event will feature Philly’s own polo champion Kareem Rosser and one lucky attendee will walk away with a pair of tickets.

“Our first annual event marked a historic moment in Philadelphia when we hosted the Polo Classicin Fairmount Park, showcasing an unprecedented number of Black polo players for an event at this scale,” said Kareem Rosser, Executive Vice President of Work to Ride, Author, and Polo Champion. “This year, our goal is to further expand the reach and impact of this incredible sport through our capital campaign, helping us prove that the sport of kings is accessible to all, regardless of background, and ensure that we continue to change lives through the opportunities we create for our Philadelphia Youth.”

The First Match precedes the Feature Match with teams comprised of current and alumni Work to Ride program players, highlighting the talented young adults who have excelled through the program’s unique, urban equestrian program based out of the Chamounix Equestrian Center in Fairmount Park, Pennsylvania. Among the participating players is Work to Ride’s Alyssa Perren, who has garnered national attention for her earned spot in Harvard University’s Class of 2027 where she’ll be playing on the women’s polo team; Sariah Harris, who made the semifinals of the Women’s US Open Polo Tournament, and Mosiah Gravesande, whose University of North Texas team won the D1 United States Polo Association Intercollegiate National Tournament this year.

“Participating in the Philadelphia Polo Classic on behalf of Work to Ride holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just an event; it’s a celebration of where I come from and a showcase of where we can go,” said Alyssa Perren, Work to Ride Alumni. “From my first ride at three years old to preparing to play for Harvard’s women’s polo team, every moment has been a step forward, not just for me but for everyone back home in West Philadelphia. This event is crucial for our community—it’s where potential is recognized, and dreams are nurtured. It’s a cornerstone for aspiring players and a testament to the power of opportunity. Being a part of this makes me proud of how far I’ve come, and even more, it motivates me to give back and help pave the way for others like me.”

The Philadelphia Polo Classic raises much-needed funds for the Work to Ride program, which just launched its “Race to the Finish” campaign to construct an indoor riding arena at Chamounix Equestrian Center. The campaign, aiming to raise $2.7 million by June 22, 2024, addresses the critical need for a weather-proof facility where local youth can continue to ride, learn, and grow despite inclement weather. Construction is set to begin July, 2024.

“Our ‘Race to the Finish’ campaign is more than a fundraiser; it’s a commitment to our youth and the future of our community,” shared Lezlie Hiner, WTR Founder & Executive Director. “With each dollar raised, we’re not just building an arena; we’re constructing a foundation for education, life skills, and dreams that stretch far beyond the saddle. This campaign is the embodiment of hope and the strength of collective effort, ensuring that the values of Work to Ride gallop forward for generations to come.”

Thanks to a significant commitment from a dedicated donor, every donation will be matched up to $1 million, dramatically increasing the impact of each donation.

Participants can join the fundraising effort in advance of the Philadelphia Polo Classic by forming teams or donating directly. The campaign rewards the top three teams and individuals with prizes for their fundraising efforts. Team winners will enjoy an exclusive dinner by Chef Jose Garces, a VIP experience at the Philadelphia Polo Classic, and a wine tasting event at Harvest Ridge Winery. Individual top fundraisers can look forward to a VIP Eagles game day experience, a chef’s tasting with Forsythia’s Chef Chris Kearse, and a luxurious weekend getaway to Kentucky. Full details on the campaign can be found here: Race to the Finish.

The 2024 Philadelphia Polo Classic itself promises to be even more exceptional than the first, with new and returning sponsors such as the famed Ganzi family, and more to be announced. Enhanced ticketing opportunities will include premium bleacher seating and party tents, alongside pop-up activations, exhibitors, food trucks, field games, photo experiences, and more throughout the day.

Gates open at 10:00 AM with the First Match kicking off at 11:00 AM. Halftime festivities commence followed by the Feature Match featuring global Polo champions at 2:00 PM followed by an award ceremony. Gates close at 4:00 PM.
