The Top 5 Things To Do In The Windy City

There are so many things to see and do in Chicago that it is impossible to do it all on one trip. So how do you decide what’s best to do in Chi-Town with all it’s top restaurants, nightlife, museums, street art and shopping to fit them all one trip. Let me be your guide for my picks of my top 5 most things to do while your in Chicago.

Explore the Willis Tower formerly known as the Sears Tower which is the tallest building in the United States. There you can catch an elevator all the way up to the 103rd floor to SkyDeck. Once you enter the SkyDeck your standing at 1,353 feet in the air with Chicago’s sky line literally beneath your feet.

Take a walk around Millennium Park. A first time visit to Chicago isn’t complete without visiting the Cloud Gate better known as “The Bean” and the Crown Fountain. Cloud Gate which is Chicago’s famous sculpture reflects the Chicago skyline. The fountain features two 50 foot towers facing off apart from each other across with a shallow pool that kids love to enjoy in the summer. There are plenty of other reason to see Millennium Park. You can go to The Art Institute of Chicago and see some of the world famous art works. From Pablo Picasso’s The Old Guitarist to Vincent Van Gogh’s The bedroom and Grant Wood’s American Gothic.

Ride the Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier. Extending out onto Lake Michigan, Navy Pier offers families a variety of entertainment. You can take a ride on the towering ferris wheel, swing seat ride and a carousel. If that’s not enough to tired the kids out, you can wander through a Funhouse Maze and explore the Chicago Children’s Museum. But all the fun at Navy Pier is not just from the kids, Adults can grab a drink at the Landshark Beer Garden and watch a show at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. During the summer hours you can catch the fireworks and concerts.

Catch a fly ball at the second oldest ballpark at Wrigley Field. If you can’t get tickets you can take a tour of Wrigley Field. You can go into the Cubs dugout and the press box. And if that is not enough for you, there are plenty of bars and restaurants around the ballpark to choose from to watch the game.

Last but not least take a stroll through Grant Park. At the center of Grant Park you will find Buckingham Fountain. This is one of the largest and famous fountain in the world. Many people will refer to it as the Married With Children fountain from the hitTV show from the 90s. The fountain shoots water as high as 150 feet into the air. If your lucky, you can get a glimpse of a rainbow forming through the fountain. Also, you can find the Shedd Aquarium.  It’s one of the largest aquarium which offers opportunities to get up close and personal with animals.
