Top 3 Spots To Celebrate National Drink Wine Day (Feb 18th)

Move over, Christmas. Hit the road, Halloween. Vamos, Valentine’s Day. You’ve all been replaced by my new favorite holiday, National Drink Wine Day. According to nationaldrinkwineday.org, “the purpose of the holiday is to spread the love and health benefits of wine, which includes reduced risk of heart disease and the enhancement of food and life.”

This Saturday, February 18th, grab a glass (or a bottle) of Red, White or Rosé at home or at your favorite bar to celebrate. Not sure of where to go, check out our the top 3 spots to mark the occasion.

Hawthornes Cafe-Who says learning can’t be fun!?! Bella Vista’s Hawthornes Cafe (736 South 11th Street) is offering a FREE educational wine tasting complete with light snacks from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Michele Alwine, a representative from The Wine Merchant, will be on-hand during the two-hour experience, pouring various wines for guests while educating them about what they are sampling. Hawthornes will also be offering “heavily discounted” wines from their to-go beverage selection, as well as for in-house dining throughout the entire night. Jet Wine Bar- Take a trip around the world without leaving your bar stool. Philly’s global vineyard, Jet Wine Bar (1520 South St) has crafted a one of a kind wine flight for just $15 in honor of National Drink Wine Day. The flight includes German wine Feder Stahl (Effervescent with a touch of sweetness, stone fruit, clean and delicate), a Prosecco from Italy (Lemon zest, white peach, green apple, light bubbles), and Gewürztraminer fromWashington( Soft bubbles, exotic fruit, allspice & apricot). Flying Fish Crafthouse- Think outside of the wine box. Flying Fish Crafthouse (1363 North 31 Street) is serving their version of Sangria, that they make with wine and beer. For $8, you can try their Red Sangria made with Jalisco Saison. If you get hungry, they’re serving up, Drunkin Donuts, a Cabernet Aged Abbey Dubbel Roasted Pork all served in a donut style fritter. You can drink your wine and eat it too. CLICK HERE for more info on Flying Fish Crafthouse.
